In late July of 2009, the NCAA has stated that USC and their football coach, Peter Carroll, had violated several rules. The specific rule violations came into play once Carroll hired a former NFL tactician to improve USC's punting and kicking during the 2008 season. NCAA rules forbid the use of any consultants for coaching duties. This, according to the NCAA, is yet another series of violations by the football and other sport programs.
