Harry Vardon - Golf's Most Influential Player

Mr. Vardon was a member of the ‘Great Triumvirate, ‘along with fellow golfers James Braid and J.H. Taylor, which garnished the trio of pro golfers much fame in Britain in the early days of professional golf, and recognition that would eventually make its way across the pond to the United States and elsewhere.

The two groups that were trying to get the law overturned, Harrah's Entertainment Inc. and Youbet.com Inc., were also joined by several professional gamblers. The sponsored bill was submitted to Congress by Massachusetts representative Barney Frank. Rep. Frank tried in the last session to overturn the gambling laws, but failed to do so.

In late July of 2009, the NCAA has stated that USC and their football coach, Peter Carroll, had violated several rules. The specific rule violations came into play once Carroll hired a former NFL tactician to improve USC's punting and kicking during the 2008 season. NCAA rules forbid the use of any consultants for coaching duties. This, according to the NCAA, is yet another series of violations by the football and other sport programs.
